Nice to meet you! I'm Becks, the founder of Honu Honi Surf Camp. I’ve been teaching people to surf for over a decade and no matter someone’s age, body, or background, there’s one thing that makes the biggest difference in the water: their confidence in their pop up. I’ve coached hundreds of surfers who felt frustrated, stuck, or unsure if their body was 'built for surfing' because someone has told them that it has to look a certain way to be right. I’ve watched the transformation that happens when they find a pop up style that actually works for them and supports their body, their nervous system, and their unique goals in the water. It's magical! We created our Perfect Your Pop Up Course because we wanted to give people a way to feel strong, capable, and at home in their surfing without needing to rely on constant in-person coaching or good surf conditions. Also because we could easily fill a couple of whole lessons on the beach just chatting through the nuances of the pop up, and we want more in-water time than that! At Honu Honi Surf Camp, we believe surfing is for every person, it's just a matter of figuring out how to make it work for you. Nope! Everything in the course can be done from home, with just a yoga mat or soft floor space.

It can be a super frustrating experience to work on something and not see results. That’s exactly why we created this course. We offer multiple styles and methods, with nervous system-aware coaching that helps your body and brain actually absorb the change. But we also ask you to be real with yourself and your expectations. We're not going to push you to do the most elite level push up if a) your body is not ready for that, and b) it doesn't align with what you actually need from your pop up to reach your surfing goals. These factors are important, and we don't just blow past them.

Like anything in life, you will get out of this course what you put into it. While we do have the first module available for free so you can test out if our teaching style is right for you. We can promise that if you commit to the process and put in the work, you will see results.
